The availability of high-quality and efficient indigent defense system is essential to the proper functioning of the Oregon criminal justice system as a whole. The Oregon Justice Resource Center believes that every criminal defendant should be provided with quality representation and zealous advocacy, and be treated with dignity. The OJRC participates in strategic and impact litigation, engages in community outreach, and facilitates law students’ pro bono work with public defenders.
The Goals of the OJRC are:
- To assist the public defender’s office in providing high-quality indigent defense in Oregon.
- To support and promote alternatives to incarceration.
- To promote the research, education and discussion of issues relating to the improvement of indigent defense services in Oregon.
