Franz Bruggemeier | Civil Rights Project | Associate Director

Franz grew up in Hawai‘i. After surviving the snows of upstate New York during college, he spent over a decade working and living around the U.S. and abroad. Wanting to assist people's movements for social justice, Franz returned to school to attend the University of Oregon School of Law. In law school, he worked on civil rights and activist defense cases with the Civil Liberties Defense Center and with other mentors in Eugene. He was also a full-time extern at the U.S. District Court in Eugene and at the Oregon Supreme Court. Since earning his JD, he has worked as a clerk at the Oregon Court of Appeals and as a trial and appellate attorney at Youth, Rights & Justice. Franz is dedicated to creating a better balance of power between individuals and the state, particularly with regard to racial and economic justice.
